With the islands of Hawaii beginnings traced back to barren lava growing, it is speculated that plants and animals were brought to the islands by wind streams, by flying birds and in the water. When the first human habitant came for Polynesia in about 500 A.D., animals and plants had already taken possession of the island and recent conservation methods have insured the gone on growing and healthy home ground for the native species.
The Hawaii islands became an fundamental strategy for the U.S. Navy and Air Force, still before Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. It’s still home to U.S. military bases and provides a large population with civilian job opportunities, it is also home to the memorials for the soldiers who perished in the attack.
Hawaii islands population has grown tremendously, especially since becoming a state in 1959, as the census in 1910 registered a human population of about 154,000. Denizens have increased to over 1.2 million in 2000.
